Yachtmaster Ocean Theory course aims
If you dream of blue water cruising but don’t know where to start, then this Yachtmaster Ocean Theory course will help you prepare for your first ocean passage. It is equally suited to people who just want to know more about astro navigation and using sextants. By the end of the course you will be able to plan an ocean passage, know about weather routing and have an understanding of Astro Navigation.
Theory Course content:
Topics covered during the course are astro navigation and a practical guide to using sextants at sea, ocean passage planning, world wide meteorology and weather routing, victualling, crew management and emergency situations.
Course pre-requisites:
Your theoretical knowledge should be equivalent to Yachtmaster, and we would highly recommend having the Yachtmaster Offshore certificate of competence before doing this course.
